The 27th BAMO awards ceremony was Sunday Mar 8, 2026, and was a fun celebration of mathematics. On the other hand, I made a major data-processing error in compiling some of the scores from Gradescope (our grading platform) from problems 4 and 5 to my data base to crunch the award data. Many awards (for BAMO-12 only) were given incorrectly. Some people got higher scores than they should, and others got lower.

There also were a few cases where a student thought that they were graded incorrectly. We do not have the bandwidth to deal with many instances of this, but occasionally graders do make mistakes that we can correct. Please note:

  • As of today, all grading is final. No appeals will be entertained. If you think that there is a grading issue, please do not contact us. Sorry.
  • What if you really think your problem was unfairly graded? That very well may be the case: there were hundreds of papers, some very poorly scanned, many with bad handwriting. Graders are highly skilled, but are also human. Nothing is perfect. If you really think you understand the problem and argued it correctly, that’s great! You may not have a BAMO score that reflects this, but in the larger scheme of things, does that matter? What is important is for you to understand the mathematics, and to discuss it with others (just not the BAMO graders; they need to rest now).
  • Read the awards report in the ARCHIVES for the finalized scores.
  • Prize email announcements will come soon.

Thanks for BAMOing, and see you next year. BAMO 2027 will start registration in December.
